Arina Danilova: Music has such enormous power that it can simply change the world.

What moment of participation in the show do you remember most vividly? What was the most difficult and what was the most pleasant?

The most vivid moment was when I first went on stage at “The Voice. Kids”. Before that, I had only performed at school, and then I had to go on stage at the main TV channel of the country. I was in a semi-fainting state - as if I had bananas in my ears. I “came to” only when the judges turned to me and were already talking to me. It was very scary. If we talk about the adult “The Voice”, that very vivid moment was when we performed in a duet with Ivan Kharkovskiy. I did not go further then, but he did. He cried a little backstage then, and it was very touching. We really became very close friends during the project.

The most difficult thing in the “The Voice. Kids” project was the time frame in which the project was filmed. I had to learn a lot of new songs, prepare a number in a week and sing in English, and I had never sung in English before. But my mom and I managed it then. She supported me a lot throughout the project.

The best thing about the children's "Voice" was that we had a great time with the guys between filming and rehearsals. More than 10 years have passed, and we are still close with some of the participants. So I am very grateful to the project for the people it gave me. On the adult "Voice", the most pleasant thing was performing on stage with the artists, and I also really enjoyed working with Leonid Agutin. He is very cool!

How did participation in the show affect your life and musical career?

It affected it a lot - if it weren't for this show, I probably would not have developed as an artist so quickly. I started getting invited to some programs, concerts, then the guys from "The Voice" and I went on tour. It was truly unforgettable - as if my life had been turned 180 degrees, and I had to cope with all of this. But I enjoyed every performance!

People still ask me about participating in this project (like now), recognize me on the street, say that they remember my performances. It's cool that the audience of "The Voice" of those years literally grew up with me.

How has your perception of music changed with age?

I began to take it more seriously. Before, I could only feel music, but now I can understand it with my mind, although my heart has not cooled towards it. When you have experience performing on stage, writing songs and music, you hear music differently, your musical taste in general changes greatly. You fall more and more in love with this incredible art that unites millions of people, you understand that music has such enormous power that it can simply change the world.

What inspires you to create music?

Love, people, other music, favorite artists, the lights of a night metropolis, freedom - when I can write about whatever I want.

What style of music is closest to you and why?

Now I listen to a lot of electronic music, but I catch myself thinking that I like the sound of live instrumental music. I started to study it in depth and thus understood my style and the genres that appeal to me - from rock to techno. Previously, it was limited to pop and r&b, but now I looked at everything more broadly and realized that there are so many cool genres that simply capture your attention.

Are there any artists that you look up to?

There are artists who inspire me - this does not mean that I want to be like them, dress the same way, write similar music. It means that their music at some point supported me, helped me not to give up. At the moment, these are Moby, Radiohead and Zemfira*, whom I have been listening to since I was 11.

What are your plans for the future in the music industry? What are you working on now?

I am currently studying at Moscow Music School, where we study sound engineering and many cool disciplines. I have been in the industry for so many years, but I didn’t know some basic things, so I am delighted with this training.

Of course, my plans include writing and releasing a lot of music, working on my inner world in order to properly convey it and change the world for the better. Now I am learning to write my own arrangements - it is difficult, but interesting.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What goals do you set for yourself?

Oh, I don’t even know. I would like to have a husband and a family already, because it is very important to me. A career is, of course, wonderful, but without family and friends nearby it makes no sense.

I usually don’t set specific goals for myself. I feel how I am developing, and I don’t demand any global things from myself, because this is a road to nowhere. At 20, you still have so many ambitions, so many desires, and they often change, so it is difficult to decide on some global goal yet. The most important thing is to be happy today, and what will happen tomorrow life will show!

What does music mean to you?

It is everything that is around. Music is in every sound, in nature, among people, even in quantum physics there is music! Therefore, music is everything.
