Natalia Kotoreva: I won’t go on stage in a leather jacket and leather leggings.
She wants to share her opinion about fashion and fashion trends with BDS readers, as well as how the artist herself selects looks for concerts.
Natalia, your style is always very interesting and memorable. How do you find a balance between individuality and trendy things?
It is difficult to determine which thing is trendy and which is relevant, at least for me. I think so, if the thing fits you, then it is relevant. And the most important thing is, of course, the cut. Print - no, color - well, maybe in some cases ... But, the cut of the thing is the most important parameter for me in choosing. That's the whole balance.
Do you have favorite designers or brands that inspire you?
Of course! My favorite designer is Olga Buzytskaya. All my concert looks and not only concert ones are the work of Olga.
Your songs often tell about love, relationships, dreams. Is your musical style inspired by any clothing styles or images?
The style of the image is selected for a particular song. I will not go on stage in a leather jacket and leather leggings to perform a song, for example, "Your Love" or "Our Parents". During a solo concert, I can change clothes three or more times, depending on the program. There must be a beautiful picture corresponding to the repertoire. I try to put in the block songs that will be combined with a certain image.
Do you think there is a connection between music and fashion? Can they inspire each other?
You can see a beautiful luxurious dress or suit and immediately in your head - I will sing such and such a song in this. Or vice versa - I will sing such and such a song in this outfit. Therefore, there is definitely a connection between fashion and music ... but this is my opinion.
Do you follow new trends in the world of fashion? What trends do you like the most?
For me, fashion means comfort and convenience. I have never been particularly interested in fashion magazines. But I have looked in Burda for patterns.
Do you get inspired by other people's styles when you create your looks? Maybe you have favorite "looks" of other artists or celebrities?
My love is Angelica Varum. I always admire her and, of course, her looks. Angelica is style!!!
Are there any cases in your creative practice when music and fashion intersected? For example, did you write songs about a specific style of clothing or look?
No, I have not written such songs, but there were shows to my tracks, and I closed Moscow Fashion Week two years in a row. I had such an experience. And it is amazing... to be involved in such a bright event.
How does your style change over time? What is most important to you - to follow trends or to remain true to your taste?
As they say, there is no accounting for taste! But I really like my style, my comfort and convenience!
If you could design a clothing collection, what would it look like? What ideas and concepts would be embedded in it?
I don't think I'll get to that... but a large flower would definitely be present!!! I adore flowers!!! In everything!!! On clothes, on wallpaper, in vases, and so on.
