Roman Isaev: It is important to find balance and not lose your individuality.

Winner of the international DORE award in the category "Dance Hit of the Year" 2024.
Today, the artist shared with our readers how style is connected with his work and the stage.

Roman, your path from a doctor to a musician is an amazing story! How has your style changed after changing professions?

My path from a doctor to a musician is truly full of unexpected turns. The style has changed dramatically! If before I was more strict in choosing clothes, now I can experiment, playing with images and finding my true self.

Is there a connection between your past as a doctor and your approach to choosing images today? For example, are you drawn to something strict or, conversely, to informal?

Yes, there is definitely a connection. My medical past experience shapes my perception of life, and in clothes I try to find a balance between strict elements and more informal ones. This reflects my inner world - I also strive to be professional and open at the same time.

How do you find a balance between your stage image and everyday style?

The balance between your stage image and everyday style is important to me. On stage, I can allow myself more creativity, brightness and extravagance, but in everyday life I prefer comfort, convenience, but of course, taking into account the latest fashion trends. The main thing is to feel natural in any situation.

Your songs often reflect personal experiences. To what extent do your stage images help you express these emotions?

My stage images are a kind of bridge for conveying emotions. They help me open up to the audience and convey to them the feelings that I put into my songs. I try to make each image resonate with what I sing about.

Who are your favorite designers or brands that you would like to see in your images?

I am impressed by the works of such brands as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Balenciaga. I also like unique things from young designers - they always bring freshness and originality. I also love Russian designers, for example, Kristina Tops, who creates various stage and casual looks for me.

What is the most unusual thing that has ever been worn on stage?

The most unusual thing I have ever worn on stage is a suit covered in rhinestones and sequins. It created an amazing effect during my performances.

Do you have a "thing" or a special wardrobe item that always accompanies you?

Yes, I have a special wardrobe item - my favorite pendant, which is almost always with me. I designed it myself, and jewelers made it for me. It has become an integral part of many of my looks.

What are the three key things that define modern style, in your opinion?

The three key things that define modern style are individuality, relevance, and sustainability. It is important to be unique, while staying within the framework of the situation and thinking about the impact of fashion on the environment.

What do you think about the impact of social media on fashion?

Social media has a significant impact on fashion. It accelerates trends, makes them more accessible, and at the same time creates a new level of interaction between designers and consumers. However, on the other hand, it sometimes leads to a superficial approach to style. It is important to find a balance and not lose your individuality among all the trends.
