The fashion industry makes incredible money and dictates trends, and we follow them. Few people put on the first thing they find in the closet. We all want to look attractive and well-groomed. How can we hide flaws behind fabric and emphasize our advantages? Garik Abdrazakov, a born aesthete, blogger, fashion expert, creator of the show "Mamkin Modnik" and the project "Tete-a-Tet", which was awarded the national award "Success of Russia 2021" in the nomination "Breakthrough of the Year in Media", shared useful tips and views on the industry with us.
I want to get to know you better. How did your childhood influence your passion for fashion?
It did influence me a lot, actually. My mother dressed me like a doll when I was a child. I was like a little Ken. From this stage, I began to see things and everything that goes with it.
You often evaluate the looks of other stars. Who is a real style icon for you?
Philip Kirkorov. I think he is the most stylish in Russian show business. Despite his age, he keeps up with the times. His capsule collections consist of the latest world trends. The stylist combines them very well. The Dolce&Gabbana collection looks especially great on him.
Is there a favorite clothing brand whose style and philosophy are the most attractive?
I think Balenciaga. I also like what SelSovet, a Russian brand, is doing lately.
Fashion - art or a way of self-expression?
It is rather the art of comfort. For me, all components are important in clothes: comfort, trendiness, relevance. Through the prism of beauty, we show our inner reflection.
What is your attitude to fashion trends: Do they kill individuality and which of them is completely tasteless?
If a person has an innate sense of style or acquired, his individuality cannot be killed. It can only be emphasized if you choose things wisely. Moving on to tasteless trends, a couple of years ago, global brands held a large-scale collaboration. People began to mindlessly mix things from different brands. For example, they could wear Louis Vuitton sneakers, Dolce & Gabbana jeans and a jacket from Gucci. You look at the product, it seems expensive, but it looks cheap and ridiculous.
"A woman must have a little black dress" - a quote from the famous Coco Chanel. What item of clothing in your wardrobe, in your opinion, can't do without?
Without accessories. Due to them, the image becomes complete. I would like to draw an analogy here with a dinner without bread. You are satiated in a different way. You can wear that little black dress, but accessories are a must. Beads, bracelets, glasses - anything that will show your individuality.
Describe your favorite thing you have
This is a limited edition Louis Vuitton jacket. In Russia, only a few people in show business have it. A customized jacket with sewn-on voluminous pockets on all sides. My must-have, my love. A good friend brought it to me from abroad.
Finally, a little about the plans. What can we expect from you in the near future?
We are currently actively working on a very patriotic story. We have already shot a video. The shooting took place in Izmailovo. It will be called "Russian land". This is my outlet, which I am burning with. We are waiting for the "wow" effect. I really want the song to enter all the charts and win the hearts of fans.
